About Us
Ntshole Foundation is a non-profit company dedicated to providing quality learning experiences to under-resourced learners in Section 21 primary schools that fall under Quintile 1. We believe that every child deserves access to future-focused learning opportunities that empower them to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
As a strong advocate for STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), the Foundation integrates creativity with technology to develop well-rounded, critical thinkers who can apply innovative solutions to real-world challenges.
Mission: To empower under-resourced children through innovation and future-focused programs.
Vision: To bridge the opportunity gap, cultivate creativity, and nurture self-sufficiency paving the way for a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
With seven years of experience, Ntshole Foundation has trained over 280 learners at Phateng Secondary School, where learners demonstrated their skills annually through a Hackathon Competition, with winning teams receiving bursary opportunities. The program’s success led to a strategic shift toward primary school learners to ensure early exposure to digital and problem-solving skills.
The Foundation post establishment.
Ntshole Foundation has since grown into a powerful force aiming to advocate for educational equity on a local, state, and national level. Our mission is a direct reflection of Mantsholes’ passion for equal opportunity. We focus on dismantling the barriers to education by advocating for equitable quality education, providing educational resources, and building partnerships that empower communities and families to take control of their children’s futures.
We honour Mantsholes’ legacy through every program we run, every child we support, and every initiative we drive forward. As we continue to carry out her legacy, Ntshole Foundation remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring that no child is ever left behind because of their circumstances. We strive to make Mantshole’s dream a reality by advocating for systemic changes that create more equitable and inclusive educational opportunities for children across the nation one school at a time.
Founding Story
Ntshole Foundation was founded in 2018 honouring the life and legacy of Segomotso Mantshole More, a passionate advocate for equal access to education for all children, no matter their background or circumstances.
Let us take you back to where it all started, a story that is close to our hearts.
It all started with a remarkable woman, a self-proclaimed tomboy since childhood, who had a burning passion for making a difference in the world. She attended a Catholic school in Ga-Rankuwa, setting the stage for her incredible journey.
As life unfolded, she pursued a career in commerce and furthered her education in Accounting Sciences at the University of Bophuthatswana (UNIBO). She served her articles at Telkom in Pretoria, where she got to showcase her commitment and dedication.
Then beautiful moments of family life; She got married and welcomed her first child. Her love and dedication to her family knew no bounds. In fact, she turned down a full scholarship from the University of Cape Town, deciding to raise her family.
Family, love, unity, and honesty were her values, and she extended her nurturing nature beyond her two biological children, becoming a mother figure to many. Her gentle presence and caring spirit fostered a community of strong women who continue to uplift one another to this day.
Ntshole was a woman with a heart of gold. She was patient, empathetic, and committed to supporting others to the best of her abilities. Her husband of 28 years remembers her as a strong woman who always stood her ground with bravery.
Her warmth and hearty laugh were truly contagious. She was passionate about education, empowering the youth, and uplifting those in need. An avid reader and gardener, her curious nature led her to a lifelong quest for knowledge.
She and her daughter, Olebogeng (Ntshole Foundations Chairwoman), often spent weekends visiting orphanages, spreading joy among marginalized children. Instead of her daughter Olebogeng receiving gifts for her 21st birthday, she asked guests to donate to her chosen cause, showcasing her selflessness.
Ntshole believed in the significance of emotional intelligence and social awareness. She understood how these qualities added depth to an individual, enabling them to navigate life's uncertainties. She championed mentorship to help individuals reach their goals.
Even as she pursued a second degree in Law to fight for the rights of women and children, she never lost sight of her purpose. Ntshole was undeniably influenced by her family's legacy. Her father, Thabang, was an artist and businessman who believed in the therapeutic power of art for children.
Her grandfather, Simon Peter Matseke, had a rich history as a driver during the South African War and a court interpreter. Education was a cornerstone passed down from her father, instilling in her the belief that it was the key to unlocking potential.
She may have left us too soon, but her legacy lives on in the dreams realized by the youth supported by the Ntshole Foundation. It's a story of love, determination, and the enduring power of one woman's vision to change lives.
